2009 Jetta TDI Cup
Riding on the coattail of success from the 2008 Jetta TDI Cup, organizers did not waste time in preparing the schedule for the 2009 Jetta TDI Cup. Volkswagen of America Inc, together with SCCA Pro Racing, released nine racing events of the ten action packed rounds late last year and the teams and their drivers have already enjoyed success, disappointment and challenges up until this point. And with the series heading towards round four, there is only more excitement and thrilling racing to look forward to.
Driver selections for the 2009 Jetta TDI Cup took place at the Infineon Raceway in California, where three thousand nine hundred hopefuls showed off their skills to win a place in the series. Only three Canadian drivers made the cut to drive for Volkswagen, of which an elated David Richert was one of them. And with $100 000 in prize money waiting for the champion, drivers have been making every moment count and giving spectators an unforgettable show at each of the rounds. Now heading into the halfway mark, racing fans are looking forward to the remaining rounds with great enthusiasm.
Rounds one and two were hosted by the Virginia International Raceway from the 24th to 26th of April, moving to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, for round three, from the 19th to the 21st of June 2009. Coming up on the 24th to 26th of July is round four, which is taking place in Chicago at the Autoban Country Club, followed by round five in Elkhart Lake (14 – 16 August 2009), round six at the Mosport International Raceway (28 – 30 August 2009) and round seven and eight being hosted by the New Jersey Motorsports Park. Round nine will take place in Braselton at Road Atlanta.
Auto racing fans have enjoyed a wonderful 2009 Jetta TDI Cup so far, and can look forward to more racing enjoyment and showdowns along the way. The series has been carefully designed, so that it is able to set a challenge for skilled drivers and prepare the thirty new drivers for what might come their way during their career. The 2009 Jetta TDI Cup is a test of endurance, of skill and of determination.
Castroneves Fever
The economic situation all over the world has been felt in many industries and sports in the last few months. Concerns over the IndyCar Series has been on the minds of most members of the auto racing industry, but on Sunday, a capacity crowd and the spectacular victory of Helio Castroneves during the Indy 500, set the Indianapolis Motor Speedway alight with emotion, excitement and overwhelming joy. It was a magnificent racing event that gave spectators all the racing drama, disappointment and elation that is expected from the Indy 500.
Victory for Mike Skinner
Mike Skinner has been involved in the world of racing since his first racing event in 1987. NASCAR is in Skinners’ blood, and over the weekend he proved that he still has the winning magic that he has become known for. And his victory in the O’Reilly Parts 250, which was held at the Kansas Speedway, was a moment of elation for both Mike Skinner and Randy Moss Motorsport. Randy Moss Motorsport was known as Morgan-Dollar Motorsports, but with the withdrawal of Rob Morgan, Randy Moss stepped in to team up with David Dollar.
