The Woodward Dream Cruise is something to experience if you have never done so and are a car nut. There really is nothing like it. The offical day is Sat, Aug. 15 but it really starts with the locals at least a week before.

This year may prove to be better since city and corporation budgets are low. I think it will return to a more "grass Roots" style cruise as it originally was when it started. (Plus less cops!)

If you are looking for parking for the day, check out the Detroit are craigslist. There are a few lots available for rent for large groups or individials. Prices range from $50 to $200 a spot. Some are handled by non-profits groups like schools or churches. Those are the best because they have responsible people there working the lots and they tend to be the lowest price.

My favorite location is at the Shrine of the Little Flower church on 12 mile and Woodward. You are right on the corner in the heart of it and the spots are only $75 for the day. You can come and go as you please (they save your spot) and they have porta-potties available for use. Reserve a spot ahead of time if you know you are going. Just a tip.

Have Fun!!
