The Australian Grand Prix is the first race in the annual Formula One Championships.
Description:
Since 1928 the Australian Grand Prix has found its home at a variety of venues within Australia, until it found its permanent home at the Melbourne Grand Prix in 1996. It was only in 1985 that the Australian Grand Prix became part of the famous Formula One Championships.
Interestingly David Coulthard, Giancarlo Fisichella and Rubens Barrichello are the only drivers to have had the privilege of starting at every Melbourne race while Michael Schumacher and Ferrari are the only team, driver combo to have had the most success.
The Australian Grand Prix covers 58 laps and a race distance of 307.574 km. Michael Schumacher holds the lap record of 1:24.125, set in 2004.
