With a distance of 805 kilometres, or 500 miles, the Daytona 500 makes up part of the four Restrictor Plate races, with its 50th running taking place 2008.
It’s here at the Daytona International Speedway in beautiful Florida that the Daytona 500 championship is hosted. The Daytona 500 kicks off the NASCAR calendar in true style.
With over 20 million viewers just in the United States its not surprising that the Daytona 500 is one of the most viewed races in motor sports.
