Create Your Own Auto Racing Team
So you’ve taken the plunge and joined an Auto Racing Fantasy League. Now it’s time to create the team that will lead you to glory! Most online auto racing fantasy leagues attempt to make things as easy - and enjoyable - as possible for their members. After all, who wants to spend all weekend calculating points when they would much rather watch the races! A typical auto racing fantasy league will rate all of the drivers and give each one a dollar value.
As a team owner, you’re given a fixed amount of “fantasy dollars” to spend on your drivers - much like real life. A relatively new and inexperienced driver like Casey Mears may cost $5 while a seasoned pro like Jeff Gordon might go for over $75, for example. Usually a certain number of trades are allowed during the season. These are done online between registered players.
After you’ve spent your fantasy dough on a dozen or so drivers, sit back and, shall we say, enjoy the ride! Check the league’s website after each race to see how your team (or teams - multiple team ownership is usually allowed) is doing. At the end of the season, the winning team wins the fantasy league championship and a pre-set amount of prize money made up from each player’s registration fees. These fees generally are in the $25 to $50 range. It’s not cheap, but it’s about as close as one to come to being an actual auto race team owner without spending the millions to actually become one!
