NASCAR Teams Robby Gordon Racing
Robby Gordon Racing is involved in a number of different forms of motor racing such as off-road racing, open wheel and NASCAR. The team is owned and managed by Robby Gordon who does most of the driving himself though he enjoys the support of an extensive crew. Robby Gordon was born in Bellflower, California, in 1969 and, as a talented driver, he generally enjoys as many different aspects of the sport as he can. He currently enjoys regular participation in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series wherein he races his number seven Ford Fusion which is sponsored by Jim Beam. In the past, he also raced in the Busch and Craftsman Truck Series. Other races include the IRL, the Trans-Am, the IMSA, the IROC and the Paris-Dakar. Robby Gordon has a reputation for being one of the best road-course drivers currently involved NASCAR racing and he has enjoyed a lot of success in this field of racing.
Gordon started racing in NASCAR Cup races in 1997 when he became part of Team SABCO. His success with the team was minimal and he eventually left the sport, only to return to NASCAR racing full-time in 2000 as head of his own team. Unfortunately his season was still not immensely successful and he went on to race for several other teams before returning to his own. During this time period, he enjoyed several wins and a number of disappointments as well. However, his NASCAR racing career seemed to have finally taken off and he was making a good name for himself in the sport. When he again raced for Robby Gordon Racing in 2005 in the NEXTEL Cup, he struggled through the year. However he eventually started to enjoy a greater level of success and by the end of 2006 he qualified in the top ten at both Sonoma and Watkins Glen.
During the course of racing the NEXTEL Cup, he has enjoyed three wins – one in 2001 at the New Hampshire 300 and the other two in 2003 at the Dodge/Save Mart 350 and the Sirius at The Glen. In all three races he was driving number 31 Chevrolet Monte Carlo which was owned by Richard Childress. His only Busch Series win took place at the Richmond International Raceway where he won the Emerson Radio 250 in 2004. Though there has been some controversy surrounding certain events during the course of his career, fans will surely look forward to seeing the Jeff Gordon Racing Team in action in the years that come.
