Ferrari Formula One Auto Racing Team

World Renowned Team Ferrari

The Ferrari automobile company has many divisions within it, but the one that focuses on the racing side of things is the Gestione Sportiva, or as most people know it the Scuderia Ferrari. Ferrari has many other operations and many Ferrari customers that it concentrates on but of late the racing division has put in a lot more time and funding to its F1 team, Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro. Their name is Italian for "Ferrari Stable", though many translate it as "Team Ferrari."

Scuderia Ferrari was first founded in 1929 racing till 1939 for Alfa Romeo. Ferrari's first attempt at competing in Formula One was in 1950 and through the decades has seen much success. This makes Ferrari one of the oldest and yet the most successful team that is racing currently in Formula One. For many years the team has been top of the F1 racing world, holding many different records including the drivers' championships, podium finishes, the most constructors' championships, wins, points and so on.

The recent years has seen much of the team's victorious streak, which has been connected to that of Michael Schumacher. He has been, as of yet, the most dominant competitor and champion in all of the history of F1 racing. Michael Schumacher has since retired from F1 racing now that the 2006 season is over leaving Ferrari's future in a more dubious situation although they are by no means going to stop their winning ways. The main reasons being that their major competitor, Renault and Fernando Alonso, have been successfully able to win both the consecutive constructors' and drivers' championships.

Felipe Massa had a great 2006 season with two wins and finishing third over all and the Ferrari team has also signed up Kimi Raikkonen for the 2007 season to replace Schumacher. They have signed up for a period of three years and will use Marc Gene and Luca Badoer as their test drivers. The sporting director will be Stefano Domenicali, the team principal being Jean Todt and Mario Almondo as technical director. Jean Todt has been recently promoted due to the departure of Ross Brawn but will stay as team principal for the 2007 season.
